first impression

All of the dashes in the site name are really superfluous.

graphic

The whole pink cupcake theme is interesting... however, why is there this pink cupcake panel along the top left? It looks like something should be in there (text wise) but has gone missing.

This is okay color wise. The cupcakes, well, I don't have anything personal against them. Overall, it's just laid out poorly in a boring way.

coding

The code isn't too hot. The white text is hard to read against the pale pink background. The italic text can be seen very easily, though. The bold text... you might as well give up. The only way I could read it was by highlighting the text or tilting my screen way back.

The headers are hard to read due to the white text against the pink/white cupcake background image.

The subheaders don't look nice with the black on grey. The clash with her layout.

content

...I hate it.... when.... the site layout drastically changes from page to page.

Affiliate images, brushes, blank awards, bullets, coded layouts, css headers, icons, icon setes, mini blends, picture quotes, backgrounds, button rollovers, cursors, displaying html, falling items, favicon, iframe, link effects, link hovers, misc, page borders, page transitions, scrollbars, simple text effects, text box backgrounds, and text effects... this is a lot of content to go through.

affiliate images;
People can make their own.

brushes;
These are boring.

blank awards;
People can and will make their own! These are a waste of space and time.

bullets;
These are nice, I can see people using these.

coded layouts;
Only one is available, but it looks a lot nicer than any of the layouts I've seen up around the site, though it is a little cluttered.

css headers;
Are these background images for headers? I don't really understand, and there's no explanation.

icons;
Boring, cropped pictures. Occasionally one looks really nice.

icon sets;
...icons of the same photoshoot.

mini blends;
Not all of the previews work, and a lot take you to dead pages.

pictures quotes;
These are okay, but where would you use them?

Side note: it's annoying that when I click the home button on the graphics page, the window opens as a new window.

backgrounds;
These tell you how to position backgrounds. Pretty helpful if your a little inept.

button rollover;
Steps one and two are cut off. I can only see step number three, which basically does me no good.

curors;
Some people may use these, but I wouldn't. Where would someone put the code? I know where, but would an ammature know?

displaying html;
Page doesn't load.

falling items;
I understand what these are, but, she should describe them, say where to put the code, etcetera.

favicon;
"Fav" as in favorite? Steps one and two are, once again, cut off.

iframe;
Why does she have the f lowercased? This is all cut off. All I can see is the last line.

link effects;
How do you use these? Where do you put the code? Examples of what they look like?

link hovers;
Same as above. What's up with the flashing squares?

menus;
Finally! It hasn't cut off all the steps! What is a "menu" by her terms? Oh. If you scroll down you can see. The example should be along the top.

misc;
Random things. Where does the code go? Previews?

page borders;
Cut off.

page transitions;
Partially cut off.

scrollbars;
Partially cut off, but helpful for those who are inept.

simple text effects;
Partially cut off. Examples? Previews?

text box backgrounds;
Steps one and two are cut off.

text effects;
Finally! Examples and previews are shown!

navigation

Not the easiest site to navigate, which is silly. Subpages include graphics (site content), html (site content), sign (onorganized guestbook), extra, and contest.

Extra includes affiliation, measurements, reviews, other stuff... most of which is useless and pointless and not related to the site.

Reviews are offered? They shouldn't be. She's not experienced enough and shows no signs of talent.

I see no CREDITS!

overall

A lot more time and effort. Nix the layout changing on every page. Delete the abundance of useless content. Work on creating more useful content.

Double check pages. A lot are cut off and it's annoying and counter productive!

Explanations, examples, and previews are basically a must. Saying where to put codes would be nice, too.

More intersting graphics! More complex coding!

comments

note: the cbox below is the same one on all review pages.

if you leave a comment... then refer to the name of the site. This review was for Shooting Star ---

This cbox is for visitors to comment about the sites that have been reviewed. It is not for visitors' complaints, defending of friends, telling me how to review sites, or for juding my site. If you want to do one of those listed above, feel free to e-mail me at skylineillusions@yahoo.com which is the site e-mail that I check frequently; I don't feel as if there is a need for any one to e-mail me over these reviews, though. I check this cbox about once every two weeks, usually only if one of my friends says "Go look at that cbox!"
