first impression

There are a lot of sites that have this basic set up (a main div with two sidebars and a header image that poorly connects the image to the CSS).

And... who's in the image...?

graphic

I still don't know who's in the image. Is it the owner? Is it some random picture the owner found? Her best friend?

The color scheme of the graphic is pink and purple... okay, not the most original color scheme, but it's not a bad choice, I guess.

Some of the brushes look a little too blurry, that could have been fixed by using the sharpening tool.

The site name can be easily read, though there's a discrepency. On the form she filled out (the review application) she said the site name was ohemgee lyts while the graphic says Ohemgee layouts and the title section of the layout says Oh Em Gee LYTS. So, needless to say, I don't know what's going on with that.

The target brush is pixalated.

I don't likw how this random... girl... is spontaneously cut off at her forearms!

coding

The CSS is just boring. The same font is used for almost everything. White background, black text.

Purple and pink are used, though very little, which is nice because they actually match the graphic. Howeve, red and light blue are used, too. Why? Neither of those colors are in the image; they don't match.

Arial is used over and over.

She didn't even make their style sheet, which means she broke my rules and applied for a review. How lovely! Thanks for being inconsiderate and wasting my time.

If she didn't make the style sheet, why doesn't she LINK to the site that DID? This is called STEALING.

content

Because the site is Ohemgee lyts/ohemgee layouts/Oh Em Gee LYTS, you would assume that they only offer layouts. You're wrong.

Visitor content includes brush sets, headlines, name tags, tips for new sites, picture captions, and tutorials.

So... layouts aren't offered at all? What the heck's up with that?

brush sets;
There aren't any previews! Previews would make this easy for visitors to see what you have and if it's what they want. Heck, downloads aren't even available. Only image packs.

I did not put credit on them . but they have been with for about a year & we did not make the brushes. do not redistribute.

That's along the top of the page... what the heck does that mean? She didn't make the brushes? Why does she offer them? Helllooo?

Not to mention the typos in those sentences.

None of these are particularly cool or amusing.

headlines;
I'm not really sure what a "headline" is.

"dont" should be don't.

I don't know really... they're just poorly made graphics with fuzzy text that say things over and over.

name tags;
DONT JOCK
.FOR YUR PERSONAL USE. & LEAVE CREDIT
btw : leave a comment in thee CBOX
IF you want one in your namee <3

"DONT" should be don't.

That period before "FOR" shouldn't be there.

"YUR" should be your.

"thee" should be the.

"namee" should be name.

Would anyone actually use these?

Honestly...

tips for new sites;
Let's take a look...

Beginning!

First off if you ever need any help in anything
even in requesting a Picturee let me know . I can make everything you need a help you. However, not all sites are as nice as me. So, in order to have a succesful site be sure too ..

1. Have a UNIQUE name
2. Have to know a moderate amount of HTML
3. Own either Photofiltre [free] or Photoshop .[not free]
4. Don't wait until you reach an inconsiderate limit to post content [ie,1k]
5. Don't ever lie about the amount of friends you have. [Sites can check if your lying.]
6. Don't beg sites to help you w. anything if it does not say in their about me, that they are willing to help new sites.
7. Don't ever take credit for anything you yourself did not create. Sites can have you deleted . [100 blocks= Myspace deletes your site]
8. Don't hide any myspace ads on your page your site can get deleted for that.
9. BE -O R I G I N A L -.
10. Have a lot to offer
11. be nice overall
12. Write proper english on your page. Thats one thing sites hate if you wR1t3 L!KE Th!2 .

Finish!

Geez.

"Picturee" should be picture.

Periods go after the last word in a sentence. You don't have the last word, then a space, then a period! Last word then period. Last word.

I can make everything you need a help you. Excuse me? What? Is English her first language? What in the world does that mean?

However, not all sites are as nice as me. Yeah, you got that right, no site should be nice, they're inanimate! I think she means the owners. Not all owners are as illiterate as you are, either, Janice. That should be "However, not all owners are as nice as I am."

"Too" should be to. Look up the differences.

Janice doesn't have a unique name, and yet that's a rule? Ohemgee isn't unique, it's just lame.

Why do you have to own Photofiltre or Photoshop? There are other programs out there, let's not discriminate.

I don't even know what the hell rule number four is.

What in god's name does number five have to do with anything.

"your" should be you're.

"w." should be with.

The comma after "about me" should not be there.

Who cares if your site is Myspace based and you steal. Just move to freewebs, for god's sake.

Number 12 cracks me up. Janice doesn't wR1t# L!k# d!$, but she might as well with all her typos.

picture captions;
Silly, meaningless, waste of time and space.

tutorials;
These are all very simple. I don't think anyone would use these, they're basically common sense.

navigation

At least navigating the site is easy. Links in the sidebar include our myspace, about us, home, our host, apply for affies, and all content and tutorials.

"affies" is not a word.

About us? Only one person filled out the application... but they lied, naturally, for two people own this site.

I love how in their biographies they talk like illiterate people! Wasn't that one of their tips? NOT to talk like that . Hypocrites.

No credits are listed.

overall

This site isn't that great, and to be honest, was an annoyance.

The lack of knowledge of the English language that Janice has is irritating.

Her site name has been shown three different ways, so which one is it?

Does Janice own the site, or do Janice and Miche'lle? It's inconsiderate not to put you co-owner's name on an application...

MAKE YOUR OWN STYLE SHEETS! That's why it doesn't match your graphic!

DON'T APPLY FOR REVIEWS UNLESS YOU'VE READ THE RULES.

Why doesn't a site with "layouts" in the title offer layouts?

She didn't even make the brushes herself? So who did? Why does she offer them? She doesn't link to the actual owners anywhere.

The headlines, name tags, and picture captions are pointless and a waste of space. Trash can.

The "tips for new sites" should be rewritten in a grammatical fashion and updated.

Hell, the whole site should be rewritten in a grammatical fashion.

Um... CREDIT YOUR RESOURCES you thief.

if you leave a comment... then refer to the name of the site. This review was for Ohemgee Lyts

This cbox is for visitors to comment about the sites that have been reviewed. It is not for visitors' complaints, defending of friends, telling me how to review sites, or for juding my site. If you want to do one of those listed above, feel free to e-mail me at skylineillusions@yahoo.com which is the site e-mail that I check frequently; I don't feel as if there is a need for any one to e-mail me over these reviews, though. I check this cbox about once every two weeks, usually only if one of my friends says "Go look at that cbox!"
