got to go

introduction

site: Got to Go
owner: Jenny
reviewed: October 5th, 2008

first impression

A lot of blue. Minimal photo editing. More blue in the code.

It sort of bugs me that the url has been abbreviated to "g2g" but the site name is typed out as "Got to Go."

graphic

Not a lot of editing. Some sort of "pixalation" brush that was blown up was used. After reading through her tutorial, I see that she didn't use a brush, by the way. The site name was put up. The original image fades into theblue background.

A lot of blue. A plain, original picture. No talent showcased.

coding

Again, a lot of blue and minimal work.

Everything is blue! The divider backgrounds, the main text, bold, underlined, links, headers/h1, italic... and it's all very boring and generic.

There are other colors, believe it or not, in the graphic besides blue. She could have used shades pf pink and red or purple or dark pruple or white or black...

content

Moving along to visitor content we have graphics, downloads, tutorials, and services.

graphics;
The graphics link splits up into seven other subpages. All of the signs are pointless and useless; people can and should and are making their own. The avatars cropped pictures with one effect on them, overall fairly boring. For the avatars there's no point in having a neopets section and an anime section if all she has under those sections is "none :("... She has spent very little time on her graphics.

downloads;
The brushes are okay, but I wouldn't direct anyone here for a brush set. Color palettes is spelled incorrectly, she needs the second e. The transparent PNGs (which is only one) is of a neopet... and once again there are anime and other sections with "none :(" under them.

tutorials;
Ah. The one tutorial is easy to follow along with, but the only part that was hard was reading the blue text on the blue background.

services;
Cutenews hosting? Need someone to host you? Don't worry! We can! Just ake sure that you don't break any rules or anything like that! This section seems confusing. What is she offering to host? A cutenews account? She should be more in depth about it all.

navigation

The navigation on this site is ok. Subpages in the sidebar's navigation section include sitely, content, services, interactive, and clear.

A short list of credits can be found off of the sitely page.

If you scroll down her sidebar you can find affiliation links and what not.

overall
Got to Go needs a lot of work and the owner needs more experience. The graphic skills displayed across the site need a lot of improvement, and so does her CSS knowledge.

Making subpage after subpage in the content section gets annoying.

I'm still not very clear on the "CuteNews Hosting" concept. She asks if you need a host, not a host for your CuteNews account.

comments

note: the cbox below is the same one on all review pages.

if you leave a comment... then refer to the name of the site. This review was for Got to Go

This cbox is for visitors to comment about the sites that have been reviewed. It is not for visitors' complaints, defending of friends, telling me how to review sites, or for juding my site. If you want to do one of those listed above, feel free to e-mail me at skylineillusions@yahoo.com which is the site e-mail that I check frequently; I don't feel as if there is a need for any one to e-mail me over these reviews, though. I check this cbox about once every two weeks, usually only if one of my friends says "Go look at that cbox!"
